President's Message

Welcome to Lake Washington Technical College
We know that you have many choices in higher education and we hope you, like many thousands of people before you, will make LWTC your college of choice. For nearly 60 years, this college has been serving the region with high quality workforce education programs. Everywhere I go, I meet people who attended our college or have a LWTC graduate in their families. I hear stories about how this college has changed lives and helped our graduates and their families achieve a brighter future. In fact, our surveys show that the #1 way students find out about our college and choose to enroll in it is due to positive word of mouth from friends, relatives and employers.
Employers are among the college’s strongest supporters. They serve on our program advisory committees, and they help design the curriculum and coursework we teach in our classes. They make sure we are teaching the skills you will need to get the job you want. Employers continually seek out our graduates because of the fine reputation established by the countless numbers of students who have preceded you. Our graduate placement surveys continue to show the power of an LWTC degree or certificate. Many of our graduates enter the world of work with multiple job offers.
Although going to college is expensive, LWTC is a great value. As a public college, you pay only a small portion of the costs of your education. Recent studies show that for every dollar you spend now for your LWTC education, your lifetime earnings will increase by nearly five times that amount. In fact, earning a degree from LWTC means that your average lifetime earnings will increase by nearly $300,000. Those figures are only for average graduates. Anyone serious enough to read the college catalog this closely is bound to be well above average!
I welcome you to join us at LWTC as you begin to develop your promising future. I look forward to meeting you and to recognizing your achievements along the way.
Dr. L. Michael Metke
President
