New Course Names/Numbers

There are a number of changes in course names and numbers with this edition of the LWTC 2007-2008 catalog. These changes have been made to ease the transfer of credits among the 34 community and technical colleges within Washington state. Called the Common Course Numbering Project, the same courses will be titled and numbered in a similar way at every Washington community college.

Some colleges will implement common course numbering in Summer 2007, others by Summer 2008. The changes should help you, the student, know that a course you have taken at one Washington school is the same at another Washington school and the course will transfer easily. Courses that do not appear on the “common” list will still transfer under the Direct Transfer Agreement as in the past. The chart below displays new course names and numbers, as compared with LWTC’s previous course names and numbers.
