The goal of the program is to prepare students to enter the job market as Massage therapists. The American Massage Therapy Association defines Massage Therapy as Òa profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques and may apply adjunct therapies with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.Ó Therapeutic massage is often used to aid in recovery from injury, to promote health and well-being, and as a treatment for illness or pain. LWTC graduates will be particularly skilled at practicing in a clinic environment as part of a health provider team implementing a patient's individualized plan of care, fitness, and/or rehabilitation.
Massage therapy program graduates will:
- be prepared to obtain an entry-level position in their field
- receive training and demonstrate learning in Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Communication, and Technical and Information Literacy skills
It is the student's responsibility to discuss sequencing and work out their individual schedule with a counselor or adviser. Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.

Massage Practitioner
Certificate of Proficiency

This certificate program prepares students to become professionally licensed to practice therapeutic massage for health maintenance, relaxation, and rehabilitation of the body tissues and systems. Students will develop a foundation for Swedish massage techniques as well as additional treatment applications. Graduates will find employment in institutions such as clinics, spas, hospitals, as well as in private practice.
Massage therapy program graduates will:
