Associate of Applied Science Degree

92 Credits

The Associate of Applied Science Nursing degree prepares students who are highly educated, technically advanced, competent and caring individuals to practice professional nursing in a variety of settings. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the examination for licensure as a registered nurse (NCLEX-RN).

Minimum admission requirements: Completion of application for admission to the nursing program, essay, minimum GPA 3.0, HOBET Test results 50% or higher, 3 professional recommendations, and Washington state background check.

Nursing program graduates (RN) will:

  • be prepared to obtain an entry-level position in their field
  • be competent in skills and knowledge necessary for the nursing role
  • receive training and demonstrate learning in Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Communication, and Technical and Information Literacy skills

Practical Nursing

Certificate of Proficiency

The Practical Nursing certificate prepares students for employment as Practical Nurses in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, home healthcare agencies, schools and doctor's offices. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the licensing examination to become licensed practical nurses (NCLEX-PN).

Admission requirements: Completion of application for admission to the nursing program, essay, minimum GPA 2.5, HOBET Test results, 3 professional recommendations, and Washington state background check.

Practical Nurse program graduates will:

  • be prepared to obtain an entry-level position in their field
  • be competent in skills and knowledge necessary for the nursing role

The Nursing Assistant certificate prepares students for employment as Nursing Assistants in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare agencies. Additionally, this program prepares students for continuation on into practical or registered nurse programs. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the certification examination to become Certified Nursing Assistant.

Admission requirements:

  • COME 1207-Hour HIV AIDS Training or equivalent
  • ENGL 093 or equivalent placement score

Co-requisites: CPR for the Health Care Provider
