Faculty Biographies
Jo Nelson
Originally from Virginia, Jo Nelson taught high school and university health and physical education, and was Athletic Director for the National Youth Sports Program. Her company, Every Body Inc., trained group exercise instructors.
Jo is a very dedicated teacher and cares about the success of the students. She shows tremendous energy and passion for the fitness program and brings a great sense of humor to her work. She has won the Instructional Excellence Award and Employee of the Year at LWTC.
She earned her masters degree in exercise science at Western Washington University. She is a certified ACSM, Health Fitness Instructor and an ACE, Group Exercise Specialist.
Christian Bruhn
Born and raised in the great northwest, Christian has worked in the fitness industry since 1998. During this time he has had the opportunity to work with athletes and students of all ages and skill levels in university, athletic club and clinical settings. Christian comes to LWTC from Tacoma Community College where he was an instructor in the Physical Education Department. Prior to his time in Tacoma, Christian taught physiology and exercise prescription/testing at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
He spent a majority of his career working as a programming director, personal trainer, and swim coach at the Seattle Athletic Club. He currently holds the position of Fitness Specialist for the Adolescent Medical Team at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Christian’s true passion is helping others realize their full potential. Whether it is in the classroom, on the field, or in life; he believes that anyone can aspire to reach the goals they set for themselves with the right motivation and proper direction.
Christian earned his BS and MS in Exercise Physiology from Central Washington University. He holds certifications from ACSM (HFS) and NSCA (CSCS) and is an American Red Cross Certified Instructor.
