Machine Technology
Welcome to the Lake Washington Technical College Machine Technology Program. In addition to full-time programs, we also have part-time classes for students who are working. We offer continuing education classes for incumbent workers such as three levels of Mastercam. We have a great desire to help students be successful in their machining training. We do this by offering flexible training times, teaching to different learning styles and always trying to improve our program.
Students will be well positioned to begin a career in the machine trades by gaining basic machining competencies through their work on projects along with a thorough grounding in shop theory, applied math, and a special emphasis on CAD/CAM programming and CNC machining.
Machine Technology AAS graduates will:
- Be prepared for a range of entry-level machining positions with skills to perform as manual and CNC operators.
- Perform basic programming and setup for CNC machines.
- Create parts for manufacturing processes.
- Use precision measurements, indicate in vices and chucks, understand tool geometry, read shop prints and create setups, and understand CNC controls and beginning programming, both manually and with CAD-CAM.
Weekly Program Visits: 1:00-3:00 pm Monday - Thursday in rooms E157-E159
Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.
