Motorcycle, Marine, & Power Equipment Service Technician
Gas driven machines, recreational marine propulsion systems and motorcycles are ever changing in the way they perform and are engineered, and the industries that service them expect and demand more of today’s technician than ever before. Whether you are looking to upgrade your knowledge, gain a certificate or degree, the state of the art learning environment at LWTC, coupled with the enthusiasm of the instructors of this program will make any student an asset to the service industry upon completion of any of the four options available in this program.
Bob Monroig and Scott Martin are the instructors for this program. Together, they have thirty years of dealership experience and are well prepared to motivate their students to achieve the types of skills in demand today. “Students from the program have distinguished themselves at national level technical competitions, placing in the top ten for the past 12 years”, says Bob Monroig. “This leads me to believe that the quality of training we have to offer is as good, if not better, than any program in the country.”
After the successful completion of training in a transportation core curriculum, students can decide upon four different options. Motorcycle Service Technician I and II are two of the certificate options, requiring the completion of an additional three quarters of curriculum each. There is also a Certificate of Proficiency, which encompasses power equipment, marine and motorcycle. This certificate requires the completion of four additional quarters of curriculum, and more than doubles the program credits of the previous two. Finally, students can opt to complete a 116 credit, six quarters Associate of Applied Science Degree, as well as deciding to specialize in one or more areas after completing basic instruction.
The skills and knowledge students receive in any of these programs will surely be an asset to themselves and to any prospective employer in the rapidly growing and more demanding field of power equipment, marine and motorcycle service technician. Program Summary
This program provides students with a broad range of entry-level technical skills by working on representative models of equipment serviced in the motorcycle, marine and power equipment industries. Students have some options of specializing in one or more areas after completion of basic instruction. Students will spend their first quarter of training in a transportation core curriculum. Cooperative work experience is available with instructor permission.
The Harley-Davidson® Elective option to the Motorcycle, Marine and Power Equipment Service Technology program will uniquely position successful completers to enter Harley® dealerships in a variety of capacities. The intent of the program is to provide the types of pre-employment training that is currently only available as incumbent worker training in a Harley-Davidson® dealership and better prepare them for their initial employment.
Motorcycle, Marine & Power Equipment Service Technology AAS graduates will:
- Be prepared for a wide range of entry-level positions with skills needed to set up, maintain, diagnose and repair a variety of equipment represented in industries.
- Be prepared to take the Equipment and Engine Training Council certification exam.
- Be prepared to take the manufacturers" in-dealership certification programs.
Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.

Transportation Department
The demand is high for competent and skilled technicians in the transportation industry, and numerous employment opportunities await the students who successfully complete any of eleven certificate or degree programs offered through LWTC’s Transportation Department. Students receive the highest caliber of training and instruction in an environment that provides a unique opportunity to learn state of the art skills. Instructors are passionate in their desire to see that their students become equipped with the tools necessary to compete for the best paying jobs in their field of learning.
The student who has successfully completed either the requirements for a certificate or a degree can expect employment opportunities to come looking for them. LWTC is widely recognized as an institution that gives its students an edge, having received their training with the most sophisticated and state of the art training methods available and from instructors who strive to insure that all of their students succeed.

The first quarter of each of the Transportation programs is comprised of four Transportation Core classes. Once the core courses are completed, students may move on to continuing courses in their program of their choice, elect to pursue various certificate options, or a two year Associate of Applied Science Degree.
