Joni Mitten MTA, DVM

Joni Mitten received her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Iowa State University and subsequently graduated from ISU with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She practiced as an equine veterinarian for 10 years until she entered the administrative aspect the same profession. She was the Personnel Manager of the largest veterinary practice in Washington State until 1998. Joni then returned to education at the University of Washington and graduated with a Master’s of Physical Therapy in 2001. She has worked in industrial ergonomics, out-patient orthopedics, and has experience in neurological rehabilitation as well. She had her own hippotherapy practice which provided physical therapy to disabled individuals utilizing horses as the treatment modality. Most recently Joni was a school-based physical therapist in the K-12 system, helping ensure all children have free and appropriate access to public education.

Joni became Program Director for the LWTC Physical Therapist Assistant program in March, 2008. She comes from a long line of educators and feels she has finally come full circle in her career. She is very excited to part of the expanding Allied Health Programs at LWTC.
