Heidi Shepherd

Heidi Shepherd, Puget Sound Energy Faculty Award for Excellence, a counselor at LWTC for more than 15 years, began showing her teaching talents when she accepted a part-time assignment as the lead instructor in our College Strategies classes, an orientation and study skills program that has been one of the most popular offerings at the college.

In 2003, Heidi moved from Student Services to Instruction in order to become the founding faculty member of LWTC's Social and Human Services Program. Heidi has built the program with no marketing other than word-of-mouth from students who have met her and immediately enrolled.

Students and faculty still rely on Heidi for her sensitivity and counseling expertise. In the classroom she is vibrant, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. She devotes hours of her time teaching and mentoring her students. Those students are fortunate to work with a person we at the college consider the model of an ideal counselor.
