Welding Fabrication and Maintenance Technology Program
Learn the latest processes and techniques, read blueprints and fabricate products of various shapes and sizes as you gain the skills used on construction projects, in manufacturing, industrial plants, and in maintenance industries. Upon completion, students are prepared to pass the Washington Association of Building Officials test.
Begin a career by developing basic skills and competencies in the major industrial welding and fabricating processes. These processes include:
- oxy/acetylene welding
- oxy/fuel cutting
- plasma arc cutting
- shielded metal arc welding
- gas metal arc welding
- gas tungsten arc welding
- FCAW Flux Core Arc Welding
- and more
The AAS degree provides students with skills to weld and fabricate complex projects. Students receive in-depth knowledge of the nature of metals as it relates to welding, fabricating, and the application of heat. Graduates become proficient in most major industrial welding and cutting processes common in the construction, manufacturing, maintenance, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries. Students also prepare to take the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) certification test.
Welding Fabrication & Maintenance graduates will:
- Be prepared for a range of entry-level positions as welder apprentices, welders, welder fabricators, welding fitters.
- Be prepared to succeed on the WABO certification and similar industry exams.
- Meet the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) skills standards and can perform setup, fabricating, troubleshooting, welding, cutting, bend testing, and evaluation for certification.
Any developmental coursework a student may be required to complete may increase the program length.
